Deliciously sweet, and fragranced with aromatic earl grey tea, these Earl Grey Peach Preserves are something very special!

Peach preserves are great on fresh bread, or a toasted English muffin, and this Earl Grey tea infused Peach Preserves are so darn good.
Earl Grey tea has a very distinct flavor and fragrance. It’s got bergamot oil (from the rind of a bergamot orange) in it which makes it bright and citrusy. The fragrance of the tea perfectly mixes with the sweet peaches.
It will take about 40 minutes, that you’ll need to keep a close eye on the pot so your preserves don’t burn.

Use it as a glaze on pork chops, or as a filling in hand pies or turnovers.
To peel the peaches, either use a blanching/ice bath method, or peel with a potato peeler.
Frequently Asked Questions
Peaches are relatively low in pectin, but with time and a little patience, a thick and flavorful jam can be made without the need for added pectin.
If you use proper canning procedures, up to a year on a shelf. If you are just making jam/preserves for use now – up to 2 weeks in the fridge.
Jam is smoother, while preserves will have chunks of fruit.

- Sugar. Plain white sugar.
- Lemon. We just use the juice from this.
- Earl Grey tea bags. Grab your favorite brand.
- Peaches. Fresh – peeled, pit removed and sliced. You’ll need about 8 medium. If peaches are not in season, if you can find frozen peaches – those work too. I don’t recommend using canned peaches.
How to make Peach Preserves with Earl Grey Tea

Jump- Place peach slices in heavy bottomed pot and cover with sugar and lemon juice.
- Open up one bag of tea and sprinkle in the leaves. Add the other two tea bags whole. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 40 minutes until very thick.
- Remove teabags and either can preserves according to proper canning procedures or just ladle into a glass jar and let cool.
- Preserves will last in sterilized jars for a year or in an airtight container kept in the refrigerator for about two weeks.

Been waiting for peach season to try this as my mother drink Earl Grey daily and adores the flavour! Just tried it with the first harvest of local peaches and I’m very pleased. It cooks down really nicely and has relatively low added sugar. I used Vanilla Earl Grey Cream tea from my local tea merchant and followed the suggested quantity. The resulting preserve was aromatic and flavourful but not overpowered by the tea. My yield was under a pint so decided to just refrigerate it, but definitely will be multiplying the recipe next time and put up at least a quart in future years! Would proudly gift it too!
