Easter Hot Cross Buns

KYLEE COOKS

Hot sticky buns studded with fruit & spice, with a cute cross on top, these Hot Cross Buns are traditionally eaten on Good Friday, but are so good, you’ll want to make them more than once a year!

INGREDIENTS

1

Combine the dough ingredients in the bowl of a stand mixer or a large bowl if doing by hand – & knead at medium speed for about 10 mins.

Add the spices, brown sugar & raisins & knead on low speed until elastic & smooth. Let rise in a warm place for about an hour (dough will triple in size).

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface & divide into  equal pieces. Roll them into balls & place on a baking sheet.

In a small bowl, combine the flour & water until smooth. Transfer the flour paste to a piping bag & pipe crosses onto the top of each bun.

Allow the buns to rise at room temperature another 20 mins as directed. Then bake for 20-25 mins.

Remove buns from the oven and while piping hot brush over the sugar glaze!
