Classic Chicken a la King Recipe

One-dish meals are absolutely the best.  This creamy chicken dish is the perfect easy weeknight dinner!

INGREDIENTS

Season chicken with salt & pepper. Cook until golden brown.

In a skillet melt unsalted butter. Add diced onions & sliced mushrooms to the melted butter & sauté

Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables & stir to create a roux. Cook the roux until it turns a light golden color.

Add in the chicken stock while whisking constantly to avoid lumps in the sauce.

Add the half & half, stirring constantly until the sauce becomes smooth & thickened.

Season the sauce with salt, pepper, onion powder, rosemary, paprika, and cayenne pepper.

Add the cooked chicken, peas and red peppers to the sauce. Simmer until the chicken is cooked through.

Taste & adjust the seasoning if needed. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley for added flavor!

Serve with biscuits, rice, or egg noodles.
