Equipment

Ingredients

2 apples peeled cored and cut into 8ths
8 canned biscuits (I use the flaky kind)

TOPPING

1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

SAUCE

1 cup white sugar
1 cup water
1/4 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Get prepped

Peel, core, and cut 2 apples into eighths. Separate the 8 canned biscuits and cut each one lengthwise into two circles. Measure out the ingredients for the sauce and topping. Check you have all ingredients ready.

Preheat the oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F. Butter a baking dish and set aside.

Assemble the dumplings

Wrap each apple slice in one circle of dough, encasing the apple slice completely. Place the wrapped apple slices into the buttered baking dish.

Make the topping

In a small bowl, combine the 1 cup white sugar and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Set aside.

Make the sauce

In a saucepan, combine 1 cup white sugar, 1 cup water, 1/4 cup butter, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Heat until the sugar is dissolved, stirring occasionally.

Bake the dumplings

Pour the sauce over the apple dumplings and sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar topping. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.

Serve

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream if desired. Enjoy!
