The holidays are here! I am sharing one of my favorite holiday baking recipes with you today, a super easy Chocolate Chip Bread.

The wonderful thing about this recipe is that it can be breakfast, dessert, or whatever you need at any time of day!

It mixes up quickly (just 2 bowls!) and bakes up in under an hour. I make three mini loaves and then give them to friends and neighbors, or I make one big one and keep it for us! Bake times listed in the notes for different-sized pans.

This is a great recipe to make with kids since it’s super easy. Have one mix the dry ingredients, have another mix the wet ingredients, and then you combine.

Watch out for chocolate chip thieves, they are RAMPANT this time of year, I’ve heard.

It took me a while to decide how to name this since it didn’t have a name. It’s not REALLY bread, it’s more “loaf or cake”. It doesn’t matter what YOU want to call it – I think we can all just agree it’s delicious.

I have included step-by-step photos and instructions, as well as tips and tricks in the post. If you’d rather skip all that, scoot right on down to the full recipe card located at the bottom of the post.

Why you’ll love this recipe

  • Easy. Two bowls needed, that’s it!
  • Adaptable. Make a large loaf, 3 small ones, or make muffins instead. Double the recipe and make a loaf for everyone you know!
  • Delicious. I mean, it goes without saying, right?

Kylee’s Notes & FAQs

Bake times

  • For 1 big loaf, bake time is 50-55 minutes.
  • For 3 small loaves, bake time is 40-45 minutes.
  • For muffins, bake time is 20-25 minutes.

How to store

This treat will keep for up to 3 days if wrapped tightly and stored at room temperature.

It can also be frozen. Wrap tightly with plastic wrap and place in a freezer bag. Freeze up to 3 months. To use, a quick blast in the microwave or return the baked loaf to the original pan used and reheat in the oven.

Substitutions/Additions

  • You can use dark chocolate or milk chocolate chips for this, or full-sized vs mini-sized choc chips if you prefer.
  • Add a tsp espresso powder to the dry ingredients
  • Use almond extract in place of vanilla extract
  • Use half brown sugar, half white sugar for a caramel flavor.
  • Any milk is fine, I use whole milk of 2% but you can use almond milk, oat milk, soy milk etc.

  1. I did have to bake mine a few extra minutes but it turned out lovely!! I will definitely be making this again!

  2. I love making this recipe, which has been a hit for my friends and me. I recommend trying almond milk as a milk substitute. I think I also enjoyed using coconut oil as a butter substitute before, although I also like it with butter!
