This oven-baked bacon is so easy to make! Simply arrange the bacon slices on a rack, and bake and get on with making the rest of your breakfast items!
Update: This recipe was originally published March of, 2016. It was republished with more info in December 2020.
I typically do a big breakfast for any and all people that are in my house on any given weekend or holiday. You MUST have breakfast potatoes, eggs, pancakes, and BACON at a bare minimum. You just do.
With my skillets going with the first 3 items, I often have to do my cooking in shifts… which makes it take longer to get breakfast on the table and delay the deliciousness.
Enter… the oven-baked bacon. Restaurants do bacon this way, and it really is a great way to free up your stove-top and get perfectly cooked bacon every time.
I kick it up a notch with freshly ground black pepper, and a swipe of pure maple syrup. It disappeared fast (see my son trying to get in before it hits the table).
Why this recipe works:
- Super easy to make. Just lay out the bacon slices and bake it. Its done in under 20 minutes, with very little hands-on time.
- Optional brushing with maple and black pepper. You don’t have to!

What to do with leftovers
Store in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Substitutions/Additions
- You can use any brand of bacon you like! I prefer to use thick-cut bacon for this.
- If you prefer, use honey instead of maple syrup.
- Brown sugar sprinkled on the bacon instead also works!

What great timing. I was just thinking the other day that I wanted to try some new things with bacon. Wonderful idea and looks so tasty! Do you typically get the pre-packaged thick cut bacon, or do you have a butcher prepare it for you?

I usually buy bacon that’s already seasoned. I never thought about making my own seasoning, this is such an awesome idea. I could use different spices or ingredients too aside from this recipe. Thanks for sharing.

I don’t think I have ever tried cooking bacon in the oven before. That would be so much healthier.

Thank you so much for the tips regarding the use of a baker’s rack! I have only used parchment paper when cooking bacon in the oven. Why didn’t I think to use a baker’s rack!? DUH! Pinning this delicious recipe!

I love cooking bacon this way! I hate bacon grease splattering all over my stove-top – it’s so much easier to cook it in the oven. I’ve also used my panini maker to cook it, too, but I think the oven way is the best 🙂

I always fear oven baked bacon won’t be crispy, but yours looks amazing! I might be converted.
