Key Recipe Ingredients
Remember: this is just an overview and the why of the ingredients I choose here. The full list of ingredients and amounts is found in the printable recipe card below.
- Peanut butter. I use creamy peanut butter for this recipe, but crunchy peanut butter can be used if you prefer. I use Jif or Skippy brand. Natural peanut butter works too, but make sure to stir it well to incorporate the oils.
- Nonfat dry milk powder. Provides structure and protein. You can substitute with protein powder, but this might alter the taste and texture slightly.
- Raisins. Add sweetness and chewiness. You can substitute with other dried fruits like cranberries, chopped dates, or even mini chocolate chips.
- Honey. Acts as a natural sweetener and binder. You can use maple syrup, agave nectar, or any other liquid sweetener. Different sweeteners will affect the flavor. You can also use a similar amount of powdered sugar if you don’t have liquid sweeteners. But, you may need to add a little water to make sure the peanut butter mixture is able to be scooped and rolls.
- Graham cracker crumbs. Crush your own or grab a box of crumbs from the baking section of the store. You can also roll the peanut butter balls in crushed nuts, shredded coconut, cocoa powder, or finely crushed cookies. Ensure to use gluten-free graham cracker crumbs if you want a gluten-free option.

Kylee’s Notes
How to store
Store in an airtight container.
Keep peanut butter balls in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. If you keep them at room temperature, they may be too soft.
Substitutions/Additions
Add extra ingredients like chia seeds, flax seeds, or even a pinch of salt for added flavor and nutrition.
Freezing instructions
Place the rolled peanut butter balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, making sure they are not touching each other. This prevents them from sticking together.
Put the baking sheet in the freezer for about 1-2 hours, or until the peanut butter balls are completely frozen, then transfer the balls to a zip lock freezer bag or other airtight container.
Frozen peanut butter balls will store for up to 3 months.
