We love cream cheese dips! They make a quick and easy appetizer, and this one is creamy and dreamy with flavors inspired by the toppings of an everything bagel.

We love everything bagels, they’re like a happy little morning treat. I have been super attached to using everything bagel seasoning on eggs, avocado toast and as a sprinkle of crunch and flavor on tomato soup, and in salads.
I don’t live near a lot of grocery store options where I can buy the seasoning, so have taken to blending my own at home. And I have to say, I think mine is pretty fabulous. I have included my recipe for a homemade version below!
Why you’ll love this
- Comes together quickly. Just a few minutes, and then some chill time for both you and your dip.
- Three simple ingredients. Just cream cheese, sour cream (or Greek yogurt) and a bagel seasoning blend. You can use plain Greek yogurt if you like!
- This recipe is perfect for making ahead. Take a short cut and grab a veggie tray from the grocery store to make easy dippers.
What to serve with Everything Bagel Dip
Serve with Pretzel flats/crisps, pita chips, crackers, bagel chips, fresh vegetables like sliced cucumbers, celery, bell peppers, baby carrots, broccoli florets).

Key Recipe Ingredients
Note: This highlights some ingredients. Full list is in the recipe card.
- Cream Cheese. I use a whole block of cream cheese for this recipe, that I leave on the counter to soften so that it blends better. It’s best to avoid low-fat or non-fat cream cheese as they don’t achieve the right creamy texture. The full fat content helps the dip come together, but you can use low-fat or reduced fat cream cheese if you prefer (just know that it will affect the texture)
- Sour Cream. Any kind that you like, full fat, low fat… whatever. Fat-free sour cream will affect the texture only slightly, so use it if that is what you have. Greek yogurt will also work well.

How to make Homemade Everything but the Bagel Seasoning
You’ll only need 2 tablespoons of this, save the rest for flavoring bagels, sprinkling on avocado toast, popcorn or baked potatoes.
- 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
- 1 tablespoon white sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds
- 1 ½ tablespoon dried minced onion
- 1 ½ tablespoon dried minced garlic (not garlic powder)
- ½ tablespoon kosher salt
- Measure and add all ingredients to a small bowl.
- Stir until well combined.
- Store in a sealed jar or container.

Make the seasoning mix. See above, or use a store bought blend.
Make the dip. In a medium bowl, add the cream cheese and sour cream. Using a hand mixer, blend them together until well mixed.

Fold through the seasoning. Add the seasoning and stir everything together. Transfer to a serving bowl, Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate the dip for at least 1 hour. This chilling time allows the flavors to meld together and the dip to thicken up.

Thickening the dip
If your dip is too runny, you can thicken it by adding more cream cheese. Alternatively, letting it chill in the refrigerator for a few hours can also help it to set and thicken up.
Serve. Give the dip a stir, and then add more bagel seasoning on top to garnish. Serve with pretzel crisps and bagel chips.

Kylee’s Notes
What to do with leftovers
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. The flavors tend to get stronger over time.
Can I freeze Everything Bagel Dip?
Freezing is not recommended as it can affect the texture of the cream cheese and sour cream, giving it a grainy consistency once thawed.
