Banana Cream Parfaits are a super easy dessert with from-scratch pudding layered between whipped topping, with a dust of chocolate!
I love super easy dessert recipes, that look really cute. My little boys think these are a serious treat (and they are), and I love that I’m able to make these ahead then pull out of my fridge after dinner to all the oohs and aahs.
These are delicious and creamy and packed full of flavor!!
I can’t take credit for this though, this comes from my friend Sandra at The Foodie Affair. I was given Sandra’s site for the Winter version of Freaky Friday. I knew as soon as I saw these parfaits, they would be mine….
If you’re not familiar with Freaky Friday, it’s an event some blogging friends and myself do once a season. We are secretly assigned someone else’s blog, pick a recipe and make it to share on our own blogs
It’s fun for us because we get to try a new recipe and then we get to share it with our own readers. At the bottom of this post, you will find links to the recipes that all of my friends made, too.
About The Foodie Affair: Sandra is a self-taught home cook, wife, mother, and full-time professional worker bee. She is inspired by restaurant dishes and magazines, as well as good old Mom!
Go ahead and browse her site, I know you’ll find some recipes you’ll want to try! (I’ll wait here). Some other dessert recipes that caught my attention: Pineapple Bread Pudding, and Carrot Cake Cookies
They sound pretty good, right? Naturally, I chose a dessert. No surprise there, right? Readers of Kylee Cooks have enjoyed Oreo Dirt Pudding Parfaits, so I knew you’d love these Banana Cream Parfaits, too!
Ingredients in Banana Cream Parfaits:
Banana extract may be a new one for you, banana powder can be subbed if that is what you can find!
- CORNSTARCH – this is used for thickening the pudding
- SUGAR – plain white sugar
- SALT – I use kosher salt. Salt intensifies food’s other flavors – it’s not just for savory dishes!
- MILK – whole milk or 2% work just fine
- BANANA EXTRACT – if you can’t find this, sub banana powder, or leave it out!
- EGGS – large ones!
- BUTTER – I use salted butter
- VANILLA EXTRACT – use a good quality one – this is a key flavor in the pudding
- CREAM CHEESE – use full fat, the reduced fat one will work, but won’t taste as good.
- WHIPPED TOPPING – also known as “Cool Whip”, but there are several off brand products that are just as good
- BANANAS – bananas should be bright yellow and still firm. Bananas with too many brown spots are too sweet, and don’t taste great (to me, anyway)
How to make Banana Cream Parfaits:

Top Tips for Banana Cream Parfaits:
- Freshly whipped cream can be substituted for whipped topping!
- Vary up your chocolate – I use dark, but milk and white are also really good!
- Use banana chips instead of fresh bananas.
